Close to 1,600 delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the New Juaben South Constituency are expected to cast their ballots today Saturday, July 11, 2026, to elect a new constituency executives for the party.
The election is taking place this morning at Koforidua Secondary Technical School(SECTECH). The entrance of the school has since lastnight been flooded with banners and billboards of aspirants to catch the last eye of delegates.
A total of 32 aspirants are contesting various executive positions in the party’s internal elections as the NPP begins reorganizing its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Of the 32 candidates, four are women. Notably, for the first time in the history of the constituency, a woman is contesting for the position of Youth Organizer, a development party officials say reflects growing female participation in the NPP’s internal democratic processes.
Three aspirants are vying for the Constituency Chairman position, while five are contesting for First Vice Chairman. Four candidates are seeking election as Second Vice Chairman, and three are in the race for Women’s Organizer. Two candidates each are contesting for Secretary and Assistant Secretary, while four aspirants are competing for the Youth Organizer position. Another four are contesting for NASARA Coordinator, with two candidates seeking election as Communications Officer.
Chairman of the Election Committee, Peter Yaw Kosoe, said all aspirants who filed their nominations successfully met the party’s eligibility requirements and were subsequently cleared to contest.
Mr. Kosoe urged all contestants to uphold unity before, during, and after the elections, stressing that the contest should strengthen rather than divide the party.
Peter Yaw Kosoe, Chairman, Election Committee said “We advised them that this is a home match. We are one family. Whoever wins should be able to bring the others on board so that the New Juaben South NPP will continue to grow stronger.”
Mr. Kosoe expressed confidence that the enthusiasm displayed by party members throughout the nomination and vetting process would position the NPP strongly for the 2028 general elections.
The constituency executive elections are expected to constitute a new leadership that will steer the affairs of the New Juaben South NPP and coordinate grassroots mobilization as the party intensifies preparations for the next general elections.
