At least four people, including two children, have died after a heavy-duty truck crashed into a salon at Kumawu in the Ashanti Region over the weekend.
The incident occurred on Saturday, January 17, when a truck loaded with sand from a road construction site lost control and collided with the container shop housing the salon.
The owner of the salon, her two children, and a customer were killed in the crash.
Four others, including the truck driver, sustained injuries. One of the critically injured victims was referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, while the remaining injured are receiving treatment at the Kumawu Government Hospital.
This marks the second time a truck from the construction company working on Kumawu roads has crashed into a structure. In a previous incident, a truck collided with a mosque, though fortunately no casualties were reported.
The latest crash has sparked widespread concern in the Kumawu community, with residents calling for urgent measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.
