The Eastern Regional Executive Committee (REC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended the Oda Constituency Communication Officer, Agbesi Benjamin, following allegations of misconduct linked to a publicly circulating audio recording.
The action follows an alleged audio in which Mr. Agbesi is heard discouraging a new party convert from joining the NDC, a conduct the party considers inappropriate for a communications officer.
In a statement issued after a virtual meeting held on January 21, 2026, the party said the matter had drawn the attention of the regional leadership.
“The attention of the Eastern Regional Executive Committee (REC) of the Party has been drawn to various acts of misconduct attributed to you,” the letter stated.
“The current one is an audio of you discouraging a new convert of joining the NDC as it has become the most attractive political party in Africa in recent times.”
“At its virtual meeting on the 21st of January 2026, REC deliberated on the matter and decided to suspend you from your position as a Constituency Communications Officer pursuant to Article 48 of the Party’s constitution and subsequently refer the matter to the Regional Disciplinary Committee for adjudication,” the statement said.
The suspension takes immediate effect, and Mr. Agbesi has been directed to hand over all party property in his possession to the Constituency Secretary.

“You are therefore suspended from your position as the Constituency Communications Officer with immediate effect,” the letter noted.
The REC further indicated that the Regional Disciplinary Committee will invite Mr. Agbesi to appear before it as part of the adjudication process.
“The Disciplinary Committee will invite you for a hearing, and it will be in your best interest to avail yourself for adjudication to enable the Committee submit a report with recommendations to REC for further action,” the letter added.
