The campaign team of NPP presidential aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has highlighted a minor issue with the peace pact signed by all aspirants, stressing the need for transparency in the upcoming January 31 primaries.
Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey on Friday, January 23, 2026, Dr. Palgrave Boakye Danquah, a member of the campaign team, explained that a clause regarding open and transparent vote counting was initially omitted from the final version of the document.
“Notice that that clause had been taken out. And so the incoming flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Agyapong, drew the attention of the presidential elections committee that there’s a bit of an omission,” he said.
Dr. Danquah noted that the committee promptly clarified the matter.
“The chairman of the presidential elections committee stated that all the electoral commissioners across the country would co-lead and count in an open space… and results would not be accepted if it is done in an obscure place,” he added.
The campaign team described Kennedy’s attention to the detail as a demonstration of diligence, highlighting the importance of ensuring fairness in the electoral process.
The peace pact, signed by all five aspirants, commits participants to uphold party unity, respect the electoral outcomes, and maintain peace within the party as the race to the NPP flagbearership intensifies.
