Ghana has provided an additional shipment of construction equipment, air-conditioned tents, boats, outboard motors, medical supplies, water purifiers, and plumbing and electrical tools to the Jamaican government to aid in the country’s recovery from Hurricane Melissa.
Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced the donation in a Facebook post, noting that it was carried out on the instructions of President John Dramani Mahama.

“The Jamaican Foreign Minister, Senator the Honourable Kamina Abena Johnson Smith, JP, received the donation on behalf of the Jamaican government,” Mr. Ablakwa said.
He added that the Jamaican government’s request to extend “Operation Boafo” from 30 days to 90 days has also been approved by Ghana’s Commander-in-Chief.

Ghana’s foreign policy, he emphasized, would now be guided not by how much the country can receive from others, but by how much it can share with friends in need.
“For God, Country & Friendly Nations,” Mr. Ablakwa concluded.
