The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has interdicted five officers of its Customs Division with immediate effect pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
According to a press release issued on February 24, 2026, the decision follows preliminary findings from an enforcement operation conducted on February 18, 2026. The operation involved a consignment of transit cargo declared for onward movement to Niger.
Management of the Authority disclosed that the exercise uncovered discrepancies in documentation and compliance with established transit procedures, triggering a detailed internal review.
Initial assessments, the statement noted, point to potential procedural breaches that require an independent and comprehensive examination. The ongoing investigation is expected to establish the full facts of the matter, including the extent of any individual involvement and any departures from established Customs protocols.
The GRA indicated that additional officers may be invited to assist with the investigation where necessary. It added that upon conclusion of the process, appropriate administrative action will be taken in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
