The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it will continue to hold the government accountable, insisting that assurances from officials must be backed by verifiable facts.
Speaking on GHOne TV with Lily Mohammed on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Deputy Communications Director Hajia Rabi Salifu emphasized that the party will remain vigilant despite losing the 2024 elections.
“We are not passive citizens. We will speak,” she said, adding that past electoral setbacks do not diminish the NPP’s role in monitoring government actions.
Hajia Rabi highlighted concerns raised by citizens across various sectors, including cocoa farmers, labour unions, nurses, and teachers, particularly over issues such as unpaid arrears and automatic postings.
“If there is anybody to apologize, it should be to the nurses and teachers who say some of them are owed up to 14 months’ arrears,” she noted.
She also pointed out that public trust and investor confidence could be affected when government claims are contradicted by independent fact-checks, referencing reports questioning the creation of one million jobs since the NDC took office.
Hajia Salifu underscored that allegations raised by political figures or party insiders should not be dismissed outright but investigated thoroughly. “Allegations are allegations until proven beyond reasonable doubt,” she said.
Drawing on historical precedents, she expressed confidence in the NPP’s ability to reorganize and reclaim power in the future, noting the NDC’s return to office in 2016 as a case in point. “If they could reorganize and return to power with the same candidate, what tells you that the NPP cannot do more?” she asked.
She concluded by highlighting the recent NPP flagbearer election as a signal of renewed commitment to party rebuilding and better positioning the party to serve Ghanaians effectively.
