The Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, Wamkele Mene, formalized three Memoranda of Understanding designed to advance intra-African commerce, broaden financial accessibility, and cultivate strategic commercial alliances across the continent.
The accords were executed on behalf of the AfCFTA Secretariat with Africa Global Logistics (AGL), Ecobank, and Conversation with Africa during the ongoing high-level continental trade summit in Lomé.
These agreements are intended to bolster the operationalization of the African Continental Free Trade Area by refining trade logistics, enhancing access to capital for African enterprises, and fostering more robust collaboration between governmental and private sector stakeholders.
The arrangement with AGL will concentrate on transport networks, logistics corridors, and trade facilitation infrastructure, whereas the accord with Ecobank is geared toward expanding trade financing and financial services for African firms, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises engaged in cross-border activities. The partnership with Conversation with Africa aims to amplify discourse, increase visibility, and strengthen strategic engagement concerning Africa’s trade and development priorities.

The signing occurs as African heads of state, policymakers, investors, and corporate leaders persist in deliberations on expediting AfCFTA implementation and harnessing the opportunities presented by the continent’s single market of over 1.3 billion consumers.
