A 15-year-old female pupil in JHS Two has allegedly inflicted cutlass wounds on a male JHS One schoolmate after accusing him of repeatedly touching her breasts despite several warnings for him to stop.
The incident occurred at the Assin Krofofrodo D/A Basic School in the Assin North District of the Central Region and has sparked concerns among parents and residents over student safety and supervision during school activities.
According to information gathered, the incident happened while pupils were participating in a school clean-up exercise.
As part of the exercise, students had been instructed by school authorities to weed the overgrown compound using cutlasses.
The girl alleged that while they were working, the boy repeatedly touched her breasts and made playful advances toward her.
She claimed she warned him on several occasions to stop the inappropriate behaviour, but he allegedly ignored her warnings and continued touching her.
According to her account, she became angry after the boy allegedly persisted in his actions despite her repeated protests.
In the heat of the moment, she reportedly picked up the cutlass she was using and slashed the boy on his inner wrist.
The victim sustained a deep cutlass wound and bled profusely before being taken to a nearby health facility, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, the parents of the injured boy have accused the school authorities of negligence, claiming they failed to respond promptly after the incident occurred during school hours.
According to the family, the school did not immediately arrange for the victim to be taken to the hospital despite the severity of his injuries.
They alleged that the boy remained unattended for some time until his father returned from the farm and personally transported him to a health facility for emergency treatment.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the victim’s elder sister, Joyce Enyan, expressed disappointment over the school’s handling of the incident and called on the police and the Ghana Education Service to conduct a thorough investigation.
She also appealed to the authorities to establish the circumstances that led to the incident and determine whether there was negligence on the part of school officials in supervising the pupils and responding to the emergency.
Police have reportedly begun investigations into the incident to establish the facts surrounding the case, while both families await the outcome of the investigations.
