The African Minerals Policy Forum – Mining in Motion 2026 (AMPF-MiM) and Investing in African Mining Indaba have announced a strategic partnership to strengthen cooperation among Africa’s mineral-producing countries and connect mineral policy with investment, regional value chains and sustainable industrialization.
Taking place from October 19–21, 2026, at the Destiny Arena in Accra, Ghana, AMPF-MiM 2026 will convene African mining ministers, governments, continental institutions, development partners, investors and industry leaders under the theme “One Continent, One Policy-Aligning Africa’s Mineral Future.”
The Forum is convened under the leadership and patronage of the Ashanti Royal Family, with the Government of Ghana serving as a principal convening partner through the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, King of the Ashanti Kingdom of Ghana, serves as Patron.
The partnership combines Investing in African Mining Indaba’s international network of governments, mining companies, investors, financiers and industry leaders with AMPF-MiM’shigh-level platform for African mineral policy dialogue. Together, the platforms will seek to strengthen the connection between policy decisions, ensuring high-level policy priorities effectively translate into commercial investments and project development on the ground.
A key focus will be improving cooperation and policy alignment among mineral-producing countries, supporting regional efforts to mobilize African and international capital for mining and related infrastructure while promoting responsible mining and environmental sustainability, and strengthening Africa’s position in global mineral markets.

Closed-door Ministerial Roundtables will serve as a core feature of AMPF-MiM 2026, offering African ministers a collaborative environment to address shared sector challenges and drive regional cooperation. The event coincides with H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, preparing for his anticipated 2027 African Union (AU) Chairmanship. The platform enables Ghana to gather continental priorities on mineral development, helping shape its future AU leadership around industrialization, regional integration, and economic sovereignty. This dialogue directly supports President Mahama’s Accra Reset agenda by promoting policy harmonization, local mineral processing, cross-border value chains, and enhanced value retention across African economies.
This partnership comes at a pivotal juncture for African mining. As rising global demand for critical minerals and key commodities such as gold heightens competition for the continent’s resources, African governments are increasingly focused on capturing greater domestic value. Unlocking this potential requires capital deployment beyond primary extraction- spanning refining and processing capacity, infrastructure, localized supply chains, and regional market integration. Accordingly, the partnership will drive actionable outcomes by aligning public policy with private investment, fostering cross-border cooperation and advancing the African Mining Vision, a regional plan to ensure the exploitation of Africa’s minerals drive the continent’s social and economic transformation.
“Ghana is honored to host AMPF–MiM 2026 as a platform for African mineral-producing countries to listen to one another, exchange experiences and identify practical areas for cooperation,” said Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources of Ghana. “We look forward to learning from the experiences of other African countries while sharing Ghana’s own. Cooperation on policy, infrastructure, skills development and value addition can help African countries capture more value from their mineral resources and build a more resilient mining sector.”
“AMPF–MiM was created to provide a platform where Africa’s mineral wealth can be discussed in terms of empowerment, industrialization and prosperity,” said Oheneba Nana Kwaku Duah,. “The partnership with Investing in Mining Indaba strengthens this objective by bringing together African policymakers, industry and international capital at a critical moment for the continent’s mining sector. Greater cooperation and participation across the value chain are essential to converting Africa’s geological wealth into broad-based economic development.”
“Africa’s mineral future depends on connecting policy ambition with investment, projects and implementation,” said [Mining Indaba representative]. “Our partnership with AMPF–MiMbrings together complementary strengths, creating a stronger bridge between African policymakers and the global mining investment community and supporting the partnerships needed to develop competitive regional mineral value chains.”
