The Police Administration has dismissed reports that its latest reshuffle at the Flagstaff House was politically motivated.
There has been a change over in the security detail at the presidency with some 11 police officers being reassigned.
Earlier reports suggested that the change was due to the change in government.
But the Public Affairs Director of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur rejected those assertions, explaining that the move was sanctioned by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), John Kudalor and that it was a normal routine involving all other security agencies.
“Just like we do in our normal activities…normal police practices—occasionally, periodically we reshuffle our personnel by doing transfers and you know about that. We do shuffles all over. So we just change over police detachment in the Flagstaff House and replaced with another. That is all we did and it’s something that we have been doing year-in-year-out,” he told Starr News on Tuesday.
He added: “Within the same government we continue to do change overs. We select two/three people and change them and then revamp what is there. But usually, when [we’re] switching from one government to the other, we change over. We do change over and it is done by all the security agencies who have detachment at the [Flagstaff House]. So the perception that it is politically laden or it is politically motivated is not [correct].”
