The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa East in Eastern Region Mr. Ernest Owusu Ntim, has appealed to the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, to expedite the completion of stalled Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) projects in the district to improve teaching and learning.

The appeal was made during a courtesy call on the Minister at the Ministry of Education in Accra on Tuesday, where the DCE discussed key educational infrastructure challenges confronting schools in the district.

Mr. Owusu Ntim highlighted several abandoned and delayed projects requiring urgent attention, including the construction of dormitory, dining hall and classroom blocks at the Anyinam Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Complex.

The situation is affecting enrollment as many students placed in the school failed to be enrolled due to lack of accomodation.

He also appealed for the completion of the stalled primary school project at Adasawase Methodist School, describing it as critical to providing pupils with a safe and conducive learning environment.

The DCE further drew attention to infrastructure deficits and classroom congestion affecting schools in Enyiresi and Sekyere, stressing that the completion of the projects would significantly enhance access to quality education in the district.

According to him, addressing the stalled projects remains a priority for the Atiwa East District Assembly as part of efforts to improve educational outcomes and provide modern learning facilities for students.

Responding to the concerns, the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, commended the DCE for his proactive engagement and assured him that the Ministry would prioritise the district under its intervention programme.

The Minister pledged to facilitate the reactivation of the stalled GETFund projects and address the infrastructure challenges brought to his attention.
