Bisa Kdei’s advice led me to Ghana’s music industry – Sista Afia

Ghanaian singer Sista Afia has revealed that her journey into the country’s music industry was largely influenced by highlife star Bisa Kdei.

Speaking in an interview with Blessing Frimpong on RythmzLive, Sista Afia shared how an unexpected encounter with Bisa Kdei in London set her on the path to becoming one of Ghana’s top female artists.

“It was not a planned thing; it literally happened,” she recounted. “Bisa Kdei came to London, and I was introduced to him. He listened to my voice and loved it. He then asked, ‘Why don’t you come to Ghana and record one or two songs and see how it goes?’”

According to her, it took about a year before she finally took his advice and traveled to Ghana. Upon arrival, she recorded her first song, Kro Kro No, followed by Are You Ready.

After returning to London, she began receiving feedback that her music was making waves in Ghana. “People were telling me my song was big in Ghana, and they kept asking why I was still in London instead of coming to promote it,” she said.

Realizing the opportunity before her, Sista Afia returned to Ghana for promotions, and the rest, as she put it, “is history.”

Since then, she has built a solid career with numerous hit songs and collaborations, cementing her place in the Ghanaian music scene.
