Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng has described as dangerous a trend of dismissiveness of cases involving his office by the judiciary.
Addressing the media Mr. Agyebeng disclosed he had been admonished to avoid critiquing judicial verdicts could get him into trouble.
He cited four cases including that of Cecilia Dapaah, Charles Bissue, Col. Damoah to buttress his point. Agyebeng however indicated he will see through his 7 year mandate regardless.
“I can sense something going wrong, the way I put it is that there appears to be a developing trend of dismissiveness and lack of regard for the work of the OSP. In respect of some of the judges.
“It is a matter that we didn’t follow the law? I am always the first to admit a mistake. So when I assumed the reign of this office. I considered for instance, a member of Bawku Central which was before us. I quickly, when we came to the conclusion that we did not have the evidence. I went to court and entered the nolle-prosequi. Because I did not believe that we could prosecute that matter successfully,” Mr. Agyebeng stated.
The Special Prosecutor also announced investigations to government payroll and sale of state lands.
