The residence of former Managing Director of Ghana Industrial Holdings Company (GIHOC) Distilleries, Maxwell Kofi Jumah was reportedly raided by agents of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The operation, was allegedly ordered by the EOCO boss.
According to the Ashanti Regional Communication Officer of the NPP, Paul Yandoh, the agents did not stop at professional files but took control of the entire property.
“All the keys in this house, they have taken everything. They brought just a sheet with an instruction from the EOCO boss that they have to come and search Honourable Kofi Jumah’s house,” he alleged.
The agents reportedly seized all documents found within his private room, personal laptops and electronic devices as well as every key to the residence, effectively locking down the premises.
“I asked him, ‘Why are you sending the keys?’ He said that they have to take it… They were just not ready to answer that.
“Power will change. Definitely, power will change. And when it changes, nobody should blame anybody for also doing the same. Must it become a crime for someone to serve his country,?” Yandoh said.
EOCO has yet to release an official statement regarding the specific allegations or the nature of the investigation involving Mr. Jumah. The former MP’s legal team is expected to challenge the legality of the seizure and the manner in which the search was conducted.
