Five envoys present credentials to Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo Addo has accepted the credentials of five new Ambassadors who are beginning their duty tour in Ghana after their countries appointed them to serve.

The Ambassadors who presented their credentials include, Shi Tin Wang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Ghana,Myint Swe’s, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of the Union of Myanmar to Ghana, Sultana Hossain, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bangladesh to Ghana.

Nelson Ocheger, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uganda to Ghana and

Shirley Ho-Vicario, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Philippians to Ghana.

The Chinese Ambassador was first to present his letters of credence.

Addressing the President, Ambassador Wang said Ghana-China relations has seen a considerable uplift in recent years. He indicated that his time as Ambassador will see an even much deeper collaboration between the two countries to ensure that the current level of trade volume with Ghana is doubled.

He added that he is delighted to serve in Ghana and that he is looking forward to a successful duty tour.

President Akufo-Addo, observed that China is currently the biggest trading partner of Ghana with some 7 billion dollars of trade between the two countries. The country the President said is delighted to have China as a strong partner. President Akufo-Addo wished him well and pledged that the Presidency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will always be available to assist him with every help he would need to succeed during his stay.

The next to present his letters of credence was the Ambassador of Republic of the Union of Myanmar. In his submission, he said he is eagerly looking forward to working closely with Ghana’s high authorities to develop bilateral relations between the two countries, open new horizons for cooperation and to further strengthen dialogue and consultation at all levels between Myanmar and Ghana.

The Bangladesh Ambassador to Ghana in an address after her presentation, said her country is looking forward to build a strong relationship with Ghana and that that would be her major focus during her tour of duty in Ghana.

President Akufo-Addo said Ghana is looking forward to tapping into the garment industry success of Bangladesh and to learn best practices to better the lot of Ghana’s garment sector. The President was hopeful that the Ambassador will add his request to her to do list during her stay.

The Uganda Ambassador and Philippines Ambassador to Ghana were the last to presenttheir credentials. They both pledged to strengthen bilateral relations between Ghana and their respective countries especially in the area of business and trade.
