The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has announced a temporary reduction in traffic lanes along the Madina–Accra and Accra–Madina routes at the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange, effective Sunday, June 22, 2025.
In a statement dated Thursday, June 19, the Authority said the adjustment forms part of the ongoing 19.5-kilometre Accra–Tema Motorway and Extensions Project, and is expected to last for four months.
Acting on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the GHA explained that the number of lanes in each direction will be reduced from four to three to allow for the construction of a central pier as part of the expansion of the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange Bridge.

“This adjustment will take effect from Sunday, 22nd June 2025, and is expected to last for four (4) months. The lane reduction is necessary to provide safe working space for construction personnel and to ensure the continued safety of all road users,” the statement read.
The Authority urged motorists to exercise caution, follow directional signage, and comply with instructions from traffic management officials throughout the construction period.
