Industrial players in the Western Region are pushing for cheaper and more reliable gas supply from Ghana National Gas Company Limited to sustain production and support new investments, including planned expansion in the ceramics and glass sectors.
The concerns were raised during a tour of key manufacturing companies by the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Gas, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, as part of ongoing stakeholder engagements aimed at strengthening collaboration with industrial off-takers.
The visit, held on Tuesday, April 21, offered the Ghana Gas management team first-hand insight into the operations of companies that depend heavily on processed lean gas for their production.
At Jintao Sanitary Ware Company Limited, producers of ceramic sanitary products, management underscored the critical role of stable gas supply in maintaining production efficiency.
Officials of Wangkang Ceramics appealed to both government and Ghana Gas to review the pricing of gas, citing rising operational costs and the impact on competitiveness.
Meanwhile, at Twyford Group, Managing Director Li Wei commended Ghana Gas for its consistent support but called for increased gas supply to power a new glass manufacturing line currently under construction. The facility is expected to begin full operations by August next year.
Ms. Blay’s tour forms part of a broader engagement strategy since assuming office a year ago, following a similar visit to industrial off-takers in the Tema enclave, including Sentuo Oil Refinery.
