The Ashanti South Regional Police Intelligence Directorate has arrested two suspects linked to a robbery attack on an Indian and the disruption of a second planned attack on a local distribution company.
The two were apprehended following a credible intelligence that also exposed an organized gang targeting businesses and foreign nationals within the Obuasi enclave.
According to a Police Statement, an officer who acted upon intelligence raided a hideout in Brdieso near Obuasi on April 16, 2026, apprehended Iddrisu Fuseini, popularly known as “Iddi”.
Fuseini admitted that during a rigorous interrogation admitted he was a member of a six-man gang responsible for a violent home invasion at New Baakoyeden on April 12.
The gang reportedly made off with GH₵150,000.00 after attacking an Indian national at his residence.
Fuseini revealed that the heist was an “inside job” orchestrated by a suspect named Ibrahim, an employee of the victim who informed the criminals that his employer kept significant cash reserves on-site
A second suspect, Shaibu Mohammed (alias “SM” or “Cicinati”), was arrested four days later on April 20 at a hideout in Gausu. Mohammed confirmed his role in the initial robbery and admitted the group was in the final stages of planning a strike against a distribution company located near the Mawuli Hotel.
The Regional Directorate further stated that investigations revealed that both Fuseini and Mohammed are not new to the judicial system as at the time of their arrest, both suspects were already standing trial at the Obuasi Circuit Court for their alleged involvement in a separate robbery involving GH₵600,000.00.
“A manhunt is ongoing to arrest the remaining accomplices, identified as Khalifa, Edward, Prof, Waddle, Ebbe, and Ibrahim, and to recover a pump action gun and a locally manufactured pistol believed to be in their possession,” the statement concluded.
