John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister for Energy and Green Transition, has stated that Ghana’s energy sector is witnessing significant improvement, particularly in the consistency and reliability of power supply.

Speaking on day two of the Government Accountability Series, Mr. Jinapor asserted that the country is no longer facing the widespread power outages that characterized the early part of the year.

“We can confidently say that Ghana’s energy sector is indeed showing strides of stabilisation and improvement, driven by ongoing reforms,” he said. “These gains are the result of ongoing reforms, aimed by addressing both technical and financial challenges as well as modernizing infrastructure. the persistent erratic power outages that had plagued the country when we assumed office during the beginning of the year has witnessed a remarkable improvement and reliable supply of power and you [Ghanaians] can attest to that”

Power outages, commonly referred to as dumsor, have long been a major challenge, disrupting businesses and daily life.

In recent months, the crisis had deepened, significantly impacting livelihoods.

However, Mr. Jinapor maintained that the current efforts are beginning to yield positive results and restore confidence in the energy sector.
