Residents of Tweakor 1, Tweakor 2, Navrongo and Bentilibo in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region are a step closer to gaining access to electricity following the provision of an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) transformer by their Member of Parliament, Dorcas Affo-Toffey.
The intervention is expected to pave the way for the extension of electricity supply to the four communities, fulfilling part of a commitment by the MP to improve access to electricity in the area.
Madam Affo-Toffey, who also serves as Deputy Minister for Transport, provided the transformer as part of efforts to address the electricity needs of the beneficiary communities.
Access to electricity is expected to support economic activities, improve educational opportunities and enhance household living conditions once the necessary installation and connection works are completed.
Small businesses and other local enterprises could also benefit from a reliable power supply, creating opportunities to improve their operations and contribute to economic activity within the communities.
However, the provision of the transformer is only one stage of the process. The commencement of electricity supply will depend on the completion of the required technical procedures, installation works and other arrangements by the relevant electricity authorities.
Residents of Tweakor 1, Tweakor 2, Navrongo and Bentilibo are therefore awaiting the completion of these processes to enable them to access electricity.
The development represents progress towards extending basic infrastructure to the four communities, with residents anticipating improved living conditions and new opportunities for local development when the electricity connection is completed.
