The Melcom Group of Companies has donated three motorbikes and office furniture to the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Immigration Service as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.
Speaking to the media, head of Communications at the Group, Godwin Avenorgbo, mentioned that the gesture was not only to mark its 30th anniversary but also to deliver on its corporate social responsibility:
“This is not the first time we are doing this, but this year is a very special year for Melcom, 30 years of successful business operations. We started as Melcom Limited now we are Melcom Group of Companies. We need to identify institutions like Ghana Police Service, Like Ghana Immigration Service whose job relates to the security of this country.
“In a very congenial environment, where there is peace, people are able to go to work and generate income and support the growth of this country. So these institutions need to be well looked after, and government alone cannot do it. We as corporate institutions must be able to help. That is the whole idea of these donations that we are doing”.
On her part, the Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI), Commander of KIA, Edith Arhin thanked the company for its kind gesture. She disclosed that the gesture made to the Public Affairs Department at the KIA was timely as the department’s office is still lacking. She also pledged the unit would strive to maintain the items presented to them.
