The Ministry of Sports and Recreation, together with the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), has officially inaugurated the Sponsorship Committee for the 2025 President’s Cup at a brief ceremony held in the Ministry’s Conference Room on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
The 2025 President’s Cup is scheduled for Sunday, July 6, at the Accra Sports Stadium. The event aims to reignite public interest and enhance attendance in Ghana’s domestic football landscape.
Speaking at the inauguration, Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, encouraged the committee to view their mandate as a key component of a wider effort to rekindle nationwide enthusiasm for club football.
He pointed to countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Rwanda as examples of how strategic investments in sports can drive economic growth, stressing the need for Ghana to develop a commercially viable and sustainable football industry.
The Minister further stressed that the President’s Cup should act as a catalyst for energizing fan engagement, promoting community participation, and filling stadiums not only for the match itself but as part of a broader effort to cultivate a vibrant and enduring football culture in Ghana.

The Sponsorship Committee brings together a distinguished group of individuals, including:
Dr. Tony Aubynn, CEO of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation; Mr. Nathan Kwabena Anokye Adisi (Bola Ray), CEO of EIB Network Group; Dr. Kofi Abban, CEO of Rigworld Ltd; Ms. Veronica Commey, Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority; Ms. Phyllis Marku Moncar, Vice Chairperson of GHALCA; and Mr. Yaw Sakyi Afari, CEO of Rite Sports Services.
Speaking on behalf of the committee, Ms. Veronica Commey thanked the Ministry and GHALCA for the opportunity, and reaffirmed the committee’s dedication to delivering a successful and impactful event.
Key strategies outlined included rolling out media-driven ticket promotions, launching targeted social media campaigns, arranging transportation for fans and students, and partnering with the Ghana Tourism Authority to deliver a vibrant and memorable fan experience.
