Executive Director of Event Factory, Nabil Alhassan, has lamented the lack of large-capacity event venues in the Ashanti Region, describing it as one of the biggest challenges facing major entertainment productions in the area.
Speaking on Starr Showbiz with Feeling Daddy on Starr 103.5 FM on Saturday, October 4, 2025, Nabil shared that his team struggled to secure a suitable venue for the Kumasi edition of Sarkodie’s Rapperholic concert.
“We faced a lot of challenges. What readily comes to mind is the venue. The venue wasn’t built for a concert; it was built for football,” he explained. “The reason why we considered the stadium was because there is no actual venue in the Ashanti Region that can take more than five thousand people.”
According to him, the team scouted several locations across Kumasi but found none that could meet the technical and audience capacity requirements of a concert of that magnitude.
“We went to Kumasi to scout for venues, we didn’t get. We combed the whole of Kumasi, and there was none,” he added.

Nabil noted that while the Baba Yara Sports Stadium eventually became the chosen venue, its structure posed significant logistical and production challenges since it was designed primarily for football and not for concerts.
He emphasized that the absence of proper large-scale event centres in the Ashanti Region continues to hinder the growth of the entertainment industry, calling for more investment in event infrastructure to accommodate the increasing demand for major shows outside Accra.
