Former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu, Ras Mubarak, has raised concerns over what he describes as an imbalance in political appointments under the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), calling for a more inclusive approach that reflects all regions and constituencies.
Speaking on The Verdict on Starr 103.5 FM, Mubarak stressed the need for a deliberate strategy to ensure equitable representation across the country.
“What I think the party[NDC] is not doing right is that…. Strategically, you need to say, when we win this election, at least every region, every constituency has to get something. At least there should be a balance,” he said.
He pointed to his constituency, Kumbungu, as an example of what he considers neglect despite its strong political loyalty.
“Can you imagine, Muhammad Mumuni’s Kumbungu, you don’t have a chief executive officer in any place from Kumbungu,” he stated.
Mubarak described Kumbungu as a long-standing stronghold, emphasising its historical support and importance within the party’s base.

“Kumbungu is not just any other place. It’s one of the solid rock bed… strongholds, loyal,” he added.
According to Mubarak, political appointments should be structured in a way that ensures every district has visible representation beyond key positions such as District Chief Executives.
“You structure your appointment in a way that ensures that every district has a feel… whether it is staffers, whether it’s board members… in every district, you can point and say, this district, this person is there,” he explained.
He argued that such an approach would promote fairness and strengthen political cohesion by ensuring that all parts of the country feel included in governance.
Mubarak maintained that a more balanced distribution of appointments would be critical in sustaining support and addressing concerns of exclusion among key constituencies.
