Sammy Flex denies demotion, calls new role a realignment in Shatta Movement

Sammy Flex says his new role in Shatta Movement is not a demotion but a strategic realignment to strengthen media and communications.

Samuel Atuobi Baah, popularly known in Showbiz as Sammy Flex, has dismissed suggestions that his new role in Shatta Wale’s management team is a demotion, stressing that it is only a realignment of responsibilities.

Speaking in an interview with Feeling Daddy on Starr Showbiz on Starr 103.5 FM on Saturday, August 16, Sammy Flex addressed speculation that his shift from the title of “Artiste Manager” to a more focused role meant he had been sidelined. He emphasized that he has always been part of the Shatta Movement management and continues to remain integral to the structure.

“Sammy Flex has always been a management member of Shatta Movement from day one… I thought I could do everything. But with time, you realise actually, your work is big. You can’t be everything. You can’t do everything,” he explained.

He noted that the team recently held a meeting to restructure roles and officially assign responsibilities to other members. According to him, the decision allows him to focus on his core strength in media and communications while delegating other duties.

“Now, we know where your expertise is… when it comes to media, when it comes to communications, among the team members, you are numero uno. So, why don’t we bring in other people, give them official positions and managerial roles as well, so you can also function and still be an overseer of so many things?” he said.

Addressing perceptions that moving from general management to media and communications amounts to a demotion, Sammy Flex pushed back strongly.

“Who are they? Like those who think that this is to be a demotion… Do you think something has changed? When I was there, I was doing this. Am I not still doing this?” he queried.

He stressed that the restructuring was designed to prevent him from being overloaded with multiple responsibilities while ensuring that every aspect of Shatta Movement was handled effectively.

“Now I can push some responsibility to someone easily and still function… Imagine Sammy Flex, that we know him to be more media, PR. Now he has to do this, he has to do that. And we have all these big, big names around. Why don’t we officialise them, give them some responsibilities and some roles?” he added.

Sammy Flex further praised long-time members of the Shatta Movement such as Juwaid, Solash, and Salty, describing them as “the real pioneers… their blood and sweat formed Shatta Movement.”

The reassignment follows Shatta Wale’s announcement of a new management structure on July 22, which saw Juwaid Abdallah Sika appointed General Manager for Bookings and Requests, Gifty Nkrumah as Road Manager, Daniel Kwesi Kpingbi as Personal Assistant, Solomon Ashong (Solash) as Regional Coordinator for Merchandising, with Kester Ashong Teye (Nawtyboi) and Stanley Dartey (Paq) joining the music production team.
