The trial of former Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, and former Chief Executive Officer, Solomon Asamoah, has begun with the first prosecution witness testifying.
The two have been charged with allegedly misappropriating some $2 million earmarked for the Sky Train project.
The witness, Yaw Odame-Darkwa, a former board member of GIIF between 2017 and 2020 , was being led by Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, for his evidence-in-chief before the court presided over by Justice Andrew Kocuvi-Tay.
The two are standing trial for alleged misappropriation of $2 million in Sky Train funds.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi and former Chief Executive Officer of GIIF, Solomon Asamoah, have been charged with six counts and have pleaded not guilty.

They have pleaded not guilty to six charges, including willfully causing financial losses of $2 million in the Sky Train project.
The Office of the Attorney General would be parading eight witnesses to testify in the case.
EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah, reports that the witness’s statement has been adopted by the court, with lawyers for the accused persons starting with Solomon Asamoah subjecting him to cross-examination.
