Two people, a male and a female, have died while six others sustained severe injuries in a road crash at Dr. Marbel Junction in Suhum on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, and involved a DAF truck with registration number BF 1722E6, a VW Sprinter bus with registration number ER 195-24, and a tricycle, popularly known as Pragia, with registration number M-25-AS 8071.
The collision resulted in the instant death of two persons.
A rescue team from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station, led by STNO II Darkwa Fobi Prince, swiftly responded to a distress call and deployed extrication equipment to rescue victims trapped in the wreckage.
The six injured persons were immediately transported to the Suhum Government Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the two deceased persons were deposited at the hospital morgue.
According to preliminary investigations by the Ghana National Fire Service, the DAF truck allegedly experienced brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and crash into the VW Sprinter bus.
The Sprinter bus subsequently collided with a parked tricycle.
The front portions of both the DAF truck and the VW Sprinter bus sustained partial damage, while the tricycle was completely destroyed.
The Eastern Regional Fire Command has urged motorists to ensure regular maintenance of their vehicles and exercise caution while using the roads to help prevent such tragic incidents.
