The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has clarified that it has not received any medical report from former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta or his legal team, contrary to media claims suggesting otherwise.
This follows reports indicating that he is battling cancer, along with a purported medical report that has circulated online.
The former minister is under investigation for suspected corruption and related offences during his tenure from 2017 to 2024.
During a press briefing on Monday, June 2, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng slammed the former minister for acting in bad faith, stating that the OSP’s patience had been exhausted due to his continued failure to appear for questioning.
In a statement on Tuesday, June 3, the OSP addressed the circulating media reports, firmly denying receipt of any certified medical documentation from Mr. Ofori-Atta or his representatives.
The OSP emphasized that the purported medical letter was shared with the media, not with the law enforcement agency leading the investigation.
According to them, no official reports on his illness have been shared with the office.

“We wish to place on record that neither Mr. Ofori-Atta nor his lawyers have submitted any such letter to the OSP. The only correspondence received from his legal representatives is a letter notifying the OSP of a change in his medical condition and on their say so.”
“It is notable that this alleged hospital letter has been circulated through the media rather than submitted to the law enforcement agency actively investigating him and responsible for decisions regarding his return to Ghana. To date, no certified medical records or official document from any hospital authority has been submitted to the OSP indicating that Mr. Ofori-Atta is incapacitated or unable to travel to Ghana.”
