An eleven-year-old pupil of Presby Primary School at Abepotia has drowned in the Asuboni River, which had been inundated by illegal mining also known as galamsey pits.
The victim, identified as Arhin Daniel, reportedly went to the river with friends around 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 12, 2024, during school hours but unfortunately drowned.
The body of Arhin Daniel was retrieved and transported to the Nkawkaw Roman Hospital morgue.
Police have initiated an investigation into the tragic event to determine the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
