President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to driving Ghana’s economic transformation through digital innovation and a 24-Hour Economy strategy, emphasizing their central role in job creation and inclusive growth.
Delivering the keynote address at the Kwahu Business Forum, President Mahama stated that Ghana must embrace a future where businesses operate around the clock, powered by reliable infrastructure and digital connectivity.
“We are entering an era where digital infrastructure is just as important as roads and bridges,” Mahama said. “Through our 24-Hour Economy strategy, we will create the conditions for businesses to operate day and night boosting productivity, creating jobs, and expanding opportunity.”
He highlighted the need for dependable electricity, enhanced logistics, and public safety as key enablers of this strategy. The initiative is part of a broader vision to modernize Ghana’s economy through innovation, skills development, and financial sector reform.
Digital transformation, Mahama emphasized, will be at the heart of the country’s economic reset. Plans include expanding access to digital services, supporting fintech growth, and improving rural connectivity to ensure nationwide participation in the digital economy.
The President also introduced a Jobs and Skills Compact to align education with market needs, and announced a national venture capital fund targeting youth- and women-led businesses ensuring that Ghana’s young population is equipped and empowered to lead in this new economic era.
“The future of business in Ghana must be digital, green, and inclusive,” he concluded. “Let’s build an economy that works for everyone at every hour, in every region.”
