A National Vice Chairman seeking to be elected National Chairman of the Opposition National Democratic Congress , Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, says he will spearhead the creation of disability Unit under the National Organizer of the Party to mobilize Persons Living With Disability (PWDS) to have stake in the activities and policies of the Party.
According to Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, a former Eastern Regional and Local Government Minister , Political Parties have over the years not incorporated PWDs into their Core Political organization
“We have over 2 million people living with Disability in this country but no political Party has created a space for them in terms of Organizational Structure and I am saying that we will create under the National Organizer of the Party the Disability Organizational Unit and appoint a National Coordinator and then decentralized it to the regions and to the Constituencies as well. So that People Living With Disability will find that NDC as Social Democratic Party we have a place for them and we will involve them in the structure of the organization and by So doing we will be able to attract as many of the people with disability”.
Samuel Ofosu Ampofo added that he has soft spot for PWDS hence “as National Organizer spearheaded the translation of the NDC Manifesto into Braille for people with Visual impairment will be able to read it and we have been doing it consistently “.
Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said this in an interview with Starr News in Koforidua as part of his campaign tour in the Eastern region on” Vision Triple-R “-Reviving the Party Structure, Restoring Core Values of the Party and Recapturing Power 2020 and Beyond.
Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, with vars political experience having passed through the ranks as branch organizer to National Vice Chairman is promising to create sustainable funding sources for the constituencies , raise Business giants among the Party Members, resource the grass root and bring the NDC to power in 2020 if elected National Chairman through scientific research-based campaign and effective Technology based Election monitoring and collation infrastructure .
