The youth of Nalerigu have thronged the palace of the Mamprugu Overlord to fight off attempts by the military to arrest the traditional ruler.
This followed a failed military operation last night to arrest the King who enskinned the Bawku Naba.
The military forces arrived in Nalerigu at midnight with loaded rifles in four armored vehicles and a pickup truck.
They reportedly headed to the house where the newly enskinned Bawku Naba is being hosted.
However, they were fiercely resisted by the marauding youth of Nalerigu who had encircled the house to protect the Bawku Naba from being arrested.
The Soldiers subsequently went up to invade the palace of Nayiri but were confronted in a similar fashion by another set of irate youth who blocked them from effecting any arrest.
Meanwhile, the youth say they will resist any further attempt to arrest the two traditional leaders.
Early on the youth went on rampage at dawn vandalising the Police station and the office of the ruling NPP.
They blocked all major roads including the Tamale-Bolga highway burning tyres and vandalising state properties in response to attempts by the military to arrest the newly installed Chief and the Nayiri.
