US-based Ghanaian sprinter, Benjamin Azamati has recorded yet another season-best in the men’s 100m final event at the Motonet GP Kuortane in Finland.
The 26-year-old achieved his fastest time of the season, clocking 10.05 seconds (+1.0 wind).
It was powering ahead of Dominik Kopec, who was 2nd in 10.09s, while Riku Illuk was 3rd in 10.26s.
Reacting to this feat clocked, Benjamin Azamati stated “it was all about working and getting back in form after the injury last year, I believe I am on a good course“ he told GHOne TV sports.
Despite the Olympic’s mandatory 10.00 qualifying mark, Benjamin Azamati is perfectly placed to qualify for the 2024 Olympics by rank.
This is, however, the closest the Ghanaian athlete has come to the 10.00s qualifying standards having previously recorded 10.14 SB (+1.6m/s) at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland.
This feat, nonetheless, has become Benjamin Azamati’s best time since 2022 when he set the Ghanaian record.
The US-based Ghanaian athlete will now turn his attention to what the future holds for him at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games slated for Friday, July 26, to Sunday, August 11, 2024.
