Court sets October 21 to determine Bernard Mornah’s disqualification action against EC

The High Court in Accra has fixed Monday October 21, 2024 to determine an action filed by disqualified presidential Candidate of PNC Bernard Mornah against the Electoral Commission (EC).

This was after the Court presided over by Justice Richard Apietu heard submissions from all the parties including the EC.

Lawyers of Bernard Mornah and People National Convention (PNC) argued that the EC did not give them opportunity to rectify the said identified errors.

Counsel also argued that, the said errors complained by the EC were were also vagues and not specific.

But, Justin Amenuvor, Counsel for the EC who filed an affidavit in opposition said the Applicants (Mornah and PNC) by their own showings through their exhibits in court showed that they were given the opportunity.

Counsel, subsequently requested for two hours to be able to provide the court with the original copy of Bernard Mornah’s re-submitted forms.

EIB Network Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah, reports that lawyers of the EC said the commission still has its eyes on Bernard Mornah and PNC despite going ahead to print ballot papers.
