The senior aide to Alan Kyerematen, Solomon Owusu, has strongly rejected former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, asserting that Bawumia’s competence level does not compare to that of Mr. Alan Kyerematen.
Former President J A. Kufour speaking on GHOne TV, threw his full support and called on Ghanaians to vote for Dr. Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The senior aide to Alan speaking on Starr Today with Tutuwaa Danso, defended Alan Kyerematen’s previous statements criticizing Bawumia’s economic management, arguing that they were truthful observations.
“Alan wasn’t pained; he is only expressing the truth. If what President Kufuor said was the truth, no one would have an issue with it,” Owusu stated.
He then drew a stark contrast between the two candidates’ competence levels.
“Do you believe for a moment that if you put Mr. Alan Kyerematen and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia here, you can compare the competence level of Dr. Bawumia to Mr. Alan? The answer is an emphatic no; he comes nowhere near Mr. Alan.”
Mr. Owusu questioned the validity of Kufuor’s endorsement, considering the former president’s extensive experience working alongside Kyerematen but not with Bawumia.
“So if an elderly person who has worked with Alan but not worked directly with Dr. Bawumia is now saying that Mahamudu Bawumia is more competent than Alan, then it’s more questionable,” Owusu argued.
