Ghana Beach Soccer Chairman Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has called on Otto Addo to demonstrate tenacity and to take charge and establish his dominance as the coach if retained as the head coach of the Black Stars.

The future of Otto Addo as coach of the Black Stars remains uncertain as the executive council of the GFA have been locked up in a meeting all day to deliberate on the team’s poor form.

Speaking on GHOne TV on The GAME with Benjamin Yamoah and Monica Bukari, Ampofo Ankrah urged Otto Addo to enhance his authority as the leader of the Black Stars team if retained.

“That’s the big question, the big question has one answer, do we have the confidence, do the players have the confidence in the coach to do the job. I’m very worried especially with the last match against Niger, I’m very worried about coach Otto Addo, I think the pressure is beginning to tell and he’s got to be the strongest in that dressing room, he’s got to be the strongest on the sidelines during the matches.”

“The match he has to show that he’s stronger than the boys when they’re having issues and I’m seeing cracks that make me very uncomfortable and we saw the way he ran onto the pitch to celebrate an equalizer against Niger again with all due respect it was an equalizer it wasn’t the winning goal to qualifying and the manner in which he rushed onto the pitch shows he’s a man under a huge pressure,” he said.

Ampofo Ankrah further expressed concern about Coach Otto Addo’s lack of support from those appointed to him, stating that he should handle the situation professionally and not let high emotions affect his performance.

“Perhaps he’s not getting the help he needs from those above or those who appointed him and that we saw at the press conference. I don’t think that’s the right way to go about it, emotions were high but the coach should be able to and deal with it professionally, he failed and I’m worried when the pressure gets to him again what will happen next.

“I’m really concerned about Coach Otto Addo, he seriously needs help, or he needs to walk,” he told GHOne TV.

Ghana finished last in Group F and missed out on the continental championship for the first time in 20 years after failing to win any of their six qualifying matches.

Meanwhile, the four-time champions will channel their attention to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
