Ghana continued their impressive run in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a commanding 3-0 victory over Madagascar at Le Grand Stade d’Al Hoceima in Morocco on Monday evening.
The Black Stars delivered a cohesive team performance to secure the top spot in Group I with 15 points, marking their fourth consecutive victory.
Head coach Otto Addo made two changes to the squad that triumphed 5-0 over Chad, introducing Jerome Opoku and Abu Francis into the starting lineup within a 3-5-2 formation.
Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare of Hearts of Oak got in goal in his place.
The Black Stars asserted their intent early and were rewarded for their pressure, opening the scoring in just the 11th minute.
Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey rose highest to nod Jordan Ayew’s precise free-kick past Madagascar goalkeeper Geordan Dupire, handing Ghana an early lead.
Ghana came close to doubling their lead shortly after, but Mohammed Kudus’ close-range strike was brilliantly denied by Dupire.
Nine minutes into the second half, Partey struck again, nodding in another Ayew delivery from a corner to double Ghana’s lead.
The Black Stars kept up the pressure, and Kudus secured the 3-0 victory with a composed finish after being set up by captain Ayew.
Madagascar had no answer to Ghana’s dominance, as the West Africans comfortably saw out the game.
The victory solidifies Ghana’s lead in Group I, bringing them closer to securing World Cup qualification.
