On Tuesday, June 3, the Zabarama Council of Zongo Chiefs in the Central Region donated food items and a live cow to inmates of the Ankaful Prison in Cape Coast in preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
The donation which includes bags of rice, salt, cooking oil, and a cow, was presented as part of the Council’s annual gesture of goodwill to support Muslim inmates during the Sallah festivities.
Speaking during the presentation, the Zabarama Youth Peace Ambassador, Alhaji Mohammed Alhassan, for the Central Region said the gesture symbolises solidarity and compassion, stressing that incarcerated individuals should not be forgotten during important religious occasions.
He emphasized that no one should be neglected, especially during such significant religious celebrations.
DSP Sulemana Musa Manzur, a prison officer at Ankaful, received the items and expressed appreciation on behalf of the prison authorities. He described the donation as a symbol of compassion and community spirit, and encouraged other groups to extend similar support.

Also present was Zabarama youth leader, Nasir Kojo, who underscored the importance of giving and fostering a sense of belonging among all members of society, regardless of their circumstances.
The Council’s initiative highlights the value of inclusivity and communal care, especially during religious festivities.
