Special Aide to the President of Ghana, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, has charged young women across the country to dare to be different, urging them to challenge societal expectations and embrace their unique paths to success.

Speaking to a packed auditorium at the 2025 Obaasima Summit Campus Tour held at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC), Madam Mogtari encouraged female students stay informed, and approach every opportunity with confidence.

“To succeed,” she said, “you’ll have to go through the trenches; of stereotypes, of norms, of expectations. But if you stay focused, if you stay true, it pays.”

She highlighted the record-breaking representation of women in Ghana’s Parliament as evidence of what is possible when women refuse to be sidelined.

This achievement, she emphasized, is the result of countless women who have dared to speak up, step forward, and demand to be counted.

Madam Mogtari urged students to be versatile and unrelenting, embracing multiple roles while still pursuing their highest aspirations.

“Being a genius doesn’t mean limiting yourself,” she added. “You can be a jack of all trades and still be a master at one. Be bold. Be different. What you bring to the table might be exactly what the world has been searching for.”

She also underscored the transformative power of confidence, insisting that it often opens doors qualifications alone cannot.

In an exciting announcement, Madam Mogtari revealed that she will soon be launching a podcast dedicated to public speaking and leadership; a new platform designed to empower more women to discover their voices and shape their own narratives.

The summit, which brought together aspiring media professionals, student leaders, and advocates, featured notable personalities such as award-winning broadcaster Natalie Fort, media personality Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku, and other accomplished female leaders.

The Obaasima Summit is the brainchild of Maame Ama Pratt, Press Secretary to the Vice President of Ghana.

Over the years, the initiative has grown into a leading platform for promoting gender equity, leadership, and the development of women across the country.
