The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has quickly responded to a fire at the entrance of Madina Market in the early hours of Friday, September 19, 2025, preventing major property loss.
The first crew arrived at 1:38 a.m., just two minutes after the alarm, and was supported by four additional fire engines due to the rapid spread of the fire and limited nearby water sources.
The blaze affected wooden structures, two corn milling shops, and nine containers.
According to GNFS, due to the prompt action, the fire was contained by 3:07 a.m., brought under control by 3:19 a.m., and fully extinguished at 4:40 a.m.
Firefighters also salvaged a one-storey warehouse and adjoining structures. No casualties were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
GNFS emphasized its continued commitment to protecting lives and property through timely and professional emergency response.
