Legal Counsel to Former President Akufo-Addo, Kow Abaka Essuman, has expressed strong confidence in Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s leadership abilities, stating that Ghana would have been in a better position if he were President at this time.
Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray on Thursday, October 9, 2025, Mr. Essuman praised Dr. Bawumia as an accomplished economist whose expertise and vision align with Ghana’s current developmental needs.
“NPP is blessed. The candidates we have are all accomplished people. If you look at Bawumia – excellent economist. I have worked with him. His digitalisation agenda… In fact, if Bawumia had been President of Ghana right now, if he had won the election, I think Ghana would have been good because his background and his experience are exactly what the country needs at this particular moment in time,” he stated.

Mr. Essuman commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for fielding candidates of high calibre, adding that Dr. Bawumia’s innovative approach to governance, particularly through his digitalisation drive, demonstrates the kind of leadership that could transform the nation’s economy and public systems.
