The Bank of Ghana, in partnership with the Bank of England and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), today commenced a two-day High-Level Pan-African Central Bank Governors’ Conference in Accra. The event, which runs from 10–11 November 2025, is being held under the theme “Central Bank Governance: Leadership, Credibility, and Resilience in African Central Banking.”
The conference forms part of the long-standing Bank of Ghana–Bank of England Technical Cooperation Programme. Since 2018, this programme has supported 21 African central banks in strengthening macroeconomic modelling, financial stability, climate-risk supervision, and institutional governance.
According to the Bank of Ghana, the gathering provides a rare platform for current and former African Governors and Deputy Governors to engage in candid, off-record discussions on how central banks can preserve credibility, independence, and resilience in a rapidly changing global environment.
Designed to promote honest reflection and peer learning rather than formal presentations, participation is restricted to invited central bank leaders and senior officials from the Bank of England, FCDO, IMF, AFI, and other experts.
The discussions are expected to inform future leadership development and capacity-building programmes for African central banks. A communiqué summarising the key insights and outcomes will be issued at the end of the event.
