The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has confirmed a fatal motor accident involving members of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) near the Obuasi Airport area on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
The team of five was conducting an anti-galamsey operation aimed at curbing illegal mining activities in the region when the accident occurred.
Tragically, one member of the taskforce has died, while the remaining four sustained serious injuries and are receiving medical treatment.
In a statement, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources extended condolences to the family of the deceased and wished the injured colleagues a speedy recovery.
The Ministry has launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident and reiterated its commitment to the welfare and safety of all frontline personnel.
