The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is expected to submit his report and recommendations on the mediation of the protracted Bawku conflict to President John Dramani Mahama today, Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
The report will be formally presented at Jubilee House at 4:00 p.m., marking a major milestone in national efforts to restore lasting peace to the conflict-prone area.
A statement from the Presidency said the submission follows months of intensive mediation led by the Asantehene, which brought together rival factions in the Bawku chieftaincy dispute as part of broader peace initiatives.
In recent months, Otumfuo facilitated a series of consultations involving representatives of the Mamprugu traditional authorities, the Bawku Naba, and the Kusasi community. These engagements culminated in a joint meeting at the Manhyia Palace aimed at promoting direct dialogue and building consensus toward a durable resolution.
According to the Presidency, President Mahama will study the recommendations contained in the report and subsequently engage relevant stakeholders on the next phase of the peace process, as government intensifies efforts to restore stability and security in Bawku and its surrounding communities.
