President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Minister for Finance to immediately release $78 million in outstanding certificate payments owed to JustMo Construction, aimed at fast-tracking work on the Takoradi–Agona–Nkwanta dual carriageway.
The payments, which have been pending since 2024, are expected to clear arrears to the contractor and accelerate progress on this strategic 23km road, a critical link connecting Takoradi Port to mining and agricultural areas in the Western and Western North regions, as well as neighboring Côte d’Ivoire.
The President issued the directive during a site visit to assess progress firsthand. He acknowledged that delays in certificate payments had disrupted continuity of work and caused inconveniences for road users and surrounding communities.
“The arrears owed to JustMo Construction must be cleared immediately to ensure uninterrupted work on this vital corridor,” President Mahama said.
He further noted that the government has begun settling payments for contractors handling inherited projects from the previous administration, allowing them to resume work without delays.
Some of these projects have also been restructured and incorporated into the government’s Big Push Programme to fast-track financing and ensure timely completion, particularly for major infrastructure projects like key road corridors.
The Takoradi–Agona–Nkwanta dual carriageway project, which commenced in April 2024, is scheduled for completion within 24 months and is expected to significantly enhance transport efficiency and economic activity in the Western Region.
