The legal disputes between Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye and embattled Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Agradaa, have been settled out of Court, with Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye and Agradaa agreeing to terms over two defamation actions initiated against her, which have been adopted by the High Court as a consent judgment.
Per the terms of settlement, which were adopted on Tuesday, January 20, Agradaa has agreed to compensate Gifty Adorye with the sum of GHc100K, down from the GHc40M she had sought.
The sum is largely to cover legal fees and expenses related to the cases.
Per the terms, Nana Agradaa has also agreed to issue a public retraction of the implicated statements and a public apology to Empress Gifty Oppong.
On May 20, 2025, and June 26, 2025, Empress Gifty Adorye filed two separate legal actions for defamation, seeking damages stemming from publications by Evangelist Asiedua, which Empress Gifty considered damaging to her reputation.
In her original claims, Empress Gifty sought court orders for the payment of forty million Ghana Cedis (GHS 40,000,000.00) in damages for alleged slander and libel, a perpetual injunction restraining Evangelist Asiedua from publishing further defamatory statements, removal of all related content from social media platforms, and full coverage of legal costs and professional fees.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, signed by her lawyer Richard Asare Baffour, it was indicated that the terms have been adopted by the Court as a consent judgment.
“The terms of a mutually agreed settlement were today, 20 January 2026, adopted as a Consent Judgment by both the Tema Land Court and the Tema Main Court, formally bringing the two related lawsuits to an end.
