Teachers and pupils of Methodist Basic School in Akyem Kukurantumi in Eastern region have embarked on protest against continuous classrooms defecation by unscrupulous individuals.
Some classrooms meant for teaching and learning are reportedly being used as toilet facilities, raising serious health and safety concerns.
Teachers and pupils say they frequently arrive at school to find classrooms defiled with human waste, creating an unhygienic and unsafe environment that disrupts academic activities.

Despite several complaints lodged with relevant authorities over the situation, no concrete action has been taken to resolve the problem, teachers told reporters
Frustrated by the lack of response, pupils of the school have embarked on a peaceful demonstration within the community, calling for immediate intervention and demanding a clean, safe, and dignified learning environment.

Some of their demands included completion of the classroom project fitted with secured windows and doors.
They petitioned the Municipal Chief Executive, Charles Darko who directed the Education Director to address their concerns.

Some Residents and parents have since expressed concern, describing the situation as unacceptable, especially in a municipal capital.

They are urging community leaders, traditional authorities, and municipal Assembly to take swift action to stop the practice and improve sanitation facilities in and around the school.
