The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has officially rejected circulating reports that it contributed GH¢12 million to the national football team, the Black Stars, while allegedly neglecting cocoa farmers.
According to the Board, the claim is “false, misleading, and without any factual basis, ” reiterating that its core priority remains the welfare of cocoa farmers.
In a public notice on Thursday February 26, 2026, COCOBOD further clarified that at no point have funds allocated for cocoa farmer payments been diverted to support the Black Stars.
COCOBOD urged the public to disregard unverified reports and to rely solely on official communication channels for accurate updates.
Meanwhile, the board has reduced salaries of executive and senior staff voluntarily reducing salaries, waiving allowances amid efforts to address the sector’s financial crisis.
