The Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Terrance Michael Drew, has revealed that a speech delivered by President John Dramani Mahama at the United Nations General Assembly inspired his decision to visit Ghana.
Speaking at the Jubilee House during his official visit on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, Dr. Drew said the President’s address stood out among the many speeches delivered at the global gathering.

“And Mr. President, one of the things that really stuck out to me was last UN General Assembly. There are a lot of speeches given, but I particularly listened to your speech, and your speech inspired me,” he said.

He added, “I told my team that I wanted to meet you, and I’m not only meeting you, but you have welcomed me back home.”
Dr. Drew is in Ghana for a five-day official visit from March 3 to March 7, 2026, during which he will participate in Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebration on March 6.

His itinerary includes bilateral discussions at the Presidency, a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, and visits to key historical sites such as the W. E. B. Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan-African Culture, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, and the Cape Coast Castle.
He is also expected to pay a courtesy call on Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, Omanhene of the Oguaa Traditional Area.

The visit highlights strengthening ties between Ghana and Saint Kitts and Nevis, particularly in areas of diplomacy, culture, and South-South cooperation.
